Hello everyone. DIS has some important information for you. As you know, the Deaf Ski Europacup is taking place in Austria in March. A club from Linz has agreed to organise ski races for the athletes from Europe. We discussed this together and decided that the Deaf Ski Europacup would have to be cancelled due to insufficient demand. There were too few registrations. We had doubts beforehand as to whether it made sense to organise the Deaf Ski Europe Cup after the World Championships in Slovakia. Unfortunately, it was confirmed that the motivation to take part in the Deaf Ski Europe Cup was not high. Our Vice President David Pelletier from France has announced in a video that there will now be two different rankings for the Deaf Ski Europacup. One ranking list for the racers and one ranking list for the hobby skiers to motivate the hobby skiers to take part even more. But that didn't work. The motivation was not there. That's why we unfortunately have to announce that we have to cancel the Deaf Ski Europacup 2025. The 2025 season is already over for us and we are already planning for the 2025/2026 season. Whether the Deaf Ski Europacup will take place there is questionable, we are trying a new approach. We want to work together with the FIS (Ski Federation). They have organised a World Cup for hearing people and this year, for the first time, a Para World Cup under FIS. As you can see, it's a success. Thanks to the support of the FIS, they have a professional structure, a high level of attention and a greater media presence. We as deaf people also want to join in to be recognised and to show that we exist. We want to strive for our own 'Deaf' category at the FIS. It doesn't matter whether only 5 or 10 hearing-impaired athletes take part. The race will definitely take place. If we want to organise the Deaf Ski Europacup ourselves, we will have to cancel because of 5 or 10 athletes, because of the effort involved and the huge financial loss. There are pros and cons. As you know, there used to be over 60 deaf participants in the Deaf Ski Europacup. And there are fewer every year. We have observed that this is due to communication. In the past, the deaf athletes mainly communicated in sign language. At the hearing races there was only spoken language, so they were happy to be able to take part in the Deaf Ski Europacup. They could take part in ski races and talk to each other. Times have changed. The new athletes mainly speak spoken language, so they can take part in hearing races where they feel integrated. Why should they take part in the Deaf Ski Europacup? This has a big impact on this change. That's why it would be better if we worked together with the FIS, where deaf sport gets more attention and professional support. That would get rid of the worry of whether only 5, 10 or 20 athletes take part in the FIS under the 'Deaf' category. We want to try this approach now. We'll be in touch again. Thank you for watching. See you again.
